Comprehensive Plan Update
About the Plan
Nicollet County has partnered with SRF Consulting to update the current Comprehensive Plan (PDF) which was adopted in 1985. A variety of land use, socioeconomic, and policy changes have occurred since the adoption of the plan. An updated Plan will be reflective of these changes and will thoroughly examine the county's vision, goals, and policies, and implementation measures. The Plan will provide a useful tool as the county makes decisions over the next 20 years. Change in agricultural practices, local, state and federal policy updates, economic drivers and public sentiments affect the way land is used in the County, and these changes should be reflected in the updated plan. The path to successfully addressing these changes is the development of a Comprehensive Plan that is founded upon meaningful public engagement and considers the connected facets of county operations – from land use to transportation to natural resources.

One of the most important components to any Comprehensive Plan update are the public meetings. Public participation and input is vital to ensure the updated plan reflects the needs of our residents. We encourage all residents of Nicollet County to attend the Regional Focus Meeting for your area. Your feedback is extremely valuable to the process.
The specific dates and locations of all of the Regional meetings are listed below. All meetings will start at 6:00 PM with a presentation and end at 8:00 PM.

Project Management Team
During the initial phase of this process County Planning staff worked with SRF to identify potential Project Management Team (PMT) members. The PMT is a group of 10-12 individuals that represent various agencies or interest groups within Nicollet County. The main goal of the PMT is to bring attention to any current issues or future concerns that affect their respective agencies or groups. In addition, all PMT members are tasked with reviewing all materials prior to public release, participate in four scheduled committee meetings, help guide the development of the Community Survey and the Comprehensive Plan. Most importantly, the PMT will be advocates for the pubic and the overall process.
